Baylor senior Savion Wright Delights on ‘American Idol’ 13 Premiere

Savion Wright was one of the highlights of the “American Idol” Season 13 premiere. The 21-year-old from Jasper, Texas and Baylor senior says he has always wanted to audition for the show for eight years but didn’t feel like he was creatively ready until now.

He sings an original song and the judges are suitably impressed. “The one thing that came to mind is that the thing you are really going to have to work on is how to be nice to people because the other competitors … are going to be very intimidated by you,” says judge Harry Connick Jr.

Keith Urban adds, “You perform with everything, everything about you is happening. You can’t look away,” and Jennifer Lopez says, “There’s a real performer there.”

He gets three yes votes and celebrates happily with his mom, who is also thrilled to be meeting J-Lo.
