Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman found dead

Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead of an apparent drug overdose, the New York Post reports.

According to sources, Hoffman’s body was found by a friend at 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning in an apartment at 35 Bethune St. in Greenwich Village.

The New York Police Department are at the scene and are investigating, sources said.

Hoffman has admittedly struggled with drug addiction in the past, and reportedly checked himself into rehab last year for heroin abuse.

Hoffman has played some of the most challenging and intriguing roles in classic movies like Boogie Nights, Capote, and The Big Lebowski.

Hoffman was currently wrapping up the second part of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, reports. No news on whether his part as Plutarch Heavensbee will continue for the latter half of the film
